Boot Camp Overview

Requirement:  Bring you own laptop with access to your own GCS database.

Day 1 Overview of GCS Premier – Explain the GCS modules and how the modules are integrated to share information.  Learn the sequences required for each module to optimize your results. Understand the best processes from experienced GCS users who have been Controllers and CFOs. 

Day 2 and Day 3 Contracts and Billings – Discuss and review the best practices recommended for T&M, Cost Plus and Fixed Price contracts and billings.  Class includes thorough explanation of Contract Master File, Contract Labor Categories, T&M Billing Rates, Contract Work Force, Billing Master File, and Summary Budgets and Ceilings.  Understand the calculations for Revenue and Billing and learn to use advanced settings.  Learn how indirect rate calculations affect Revenue and Billing.   Set up standard report groups and Job Status Reports that best fit your reporting needs.  Use the Revenue Summary to analyze profitability and manage backlog.

Understand prior year costs and billing history and the impact on revenue and billing.  Learn how Unbilled Receivable tracks the cumulative differences between Revenue and Billing, and how to reconcile and resolve unbilled differences.

Day 4 Month End Closing – Set up a fast and efficient month end closing process.  Tie out reports such as Revenue Summary and Statement of Indirect Expenses to the Income Statement, while analyzing indirect rates and profitability.  Learn how to prepare a comprehensive financial package for management based on our Solvability template. Review year end closing procedures.

Class will be taught by a CPA with over 20 years of government contract accounting experience.
